World of Arzira - The Undying Lands

This is a map of a very weird part of Arzira - far away from all other inhabited regions of the known world. Long ago a terrible war between different nations fought with extremely powerful magic left the Undying Lands as a battered and tormented region - and many of its parts are still warped by decaying magic. Around the Oceanos, the largest remaining body of water the Mid Empire is located, the only state that still somewhat resembles a "normal nation". Other kingdoms, such as Arqal and the Domain of the Dreaming Kings are nightmarish and warped realms, ruled by mad kings that try to obtain immortality - or that presumably have already obtained it.

The inspiration for this setting came mostly from maps of the South Pole of Titan [link] , while Oceanos, the largest remaining body of water in the Undying Lands is reminiscent of Titan's Lake Ontario [link] , which was believed to be a real lake when I made this drawing and is today rather assumed to be a mudflat, that is intermittently filled with methane and ethane [link] .
